Ashcroft School students have a heart for NHS workers and patients

Students at Ashcroft Services, the Together Trust school that supports children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs, have been getting crafty to show their support for frontline NHS staff and Covid-19 patients at Wythenshawe hospital.

The project was led by Angela Daniels, a learning support assistant at the school. Angela said: “Everyone here at Ashcroft is very grateful to our local NHS frontline staff and we’ve all been keen to show this, especially the children.

Bridge College specialist schools photography competition

Students at specialist schools and colleges across the North West have a chance to show off their photography skills and win a tablet device, to help them develop their creative and photographic skills. The competition is being run by the Together Trust’s Bridge College and is being judged by Paul Coates, the Print Editor at the Manchester Evening News.

The Together Trust launches its new ‘I am thankful…’ appeal

The Greater Manchester based charity the Together Trust launched its new virtual ‘I am thankful for…’ appeal this week, with the official launch date being Tuesday 5 May to coincide with ‘Giving Tuesday Now’.  

Giving Tuesday happens every year, however this year Giving Tuesday Now has been created in response the COVID-19 crisis. As charities have seen such a huge reduction in income since the outbreak of the virus, digital campaigns are now the focus for engagement with the community and businesses.

Local children get creative for NHS Nightingale North West Hospital

The Stockport based charity the Together Trust has responded to calls, from the Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership, for art to brighten the walls of the new NHS Nightingale Hospital North West at Manchester’s G-Mex Centre.

Children and young people in the Together Trusts schools and care settings, who in many cases have learning disabilities, complex needs and autism have been busy creating art to brighten the new facility, built in response to the Covid-19 emergency.

Worsley man takes up the 2.6 Challenge to raise funds for the Together Trust

Worsley resident Oliver Hague is backing the Greater Manchester based charity the Together Trust this week by taking part in the 2.6 Challenge.

Oliver is a marketer and analyst for Brunel International, a corporate supporter of the Together Trust. Last year students for the charities Inscape House School visited Brunel’s offices in Manchester to carry out work experience.

Bridge College in Manchester extends its Supported Internship Programme

The Together Trust’s Bridge College has extended its Supported Internship Programme and opened applications for places for the next intake in the autumn. The programme is open to 16 to 24 year olds with an Education and Health Care Plan (EHCP) who are interested in getting into employment.

Bridge College in Manchester shortlisted for a national award

The Together Trust’s Bridge College in Manchester has been shortlisted for a national award, in recognition for its work in supporting students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

Natspec, the awarding body, shortlisted Bridge College from more than 50 entries from across the county in the ‘Inter-disciplinary Working’ category for the college’s project ‘Innovation in supporting students with PMLD: Achieving integration of learning and therapy through Physiotherapy and Sensory Sport.’

Stockport family run business William Turner raises £8,967.41 for the Together Trust

Stockport business William Turner recently presented the Cheadle based charity the Together Trust with a cheque for £8,967.41. The money was raised by the company and its employees during its one year charity partnership with the Together Trust, which supports children and families in the North West of England.

Cheshire resident receives MBE for more than a quarter of a century’s service to local charities

A Cheshire resident received an MBE from Princess Anne recently in a ceremony held at Buckingham Palace. Wendy Coomer was awarded the honour, which was announced in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours List , in recognition of her services to young people and the community in Cheshire. Mrs Coomer has been actively involved with the Stockport based charity the Together Trust in a variety of volunteer roles for more than a quarter of a century.

Manchester based Medicines Evaluation Unit raises more two and a half thousand pounds for the Together Trust

The Medicines Evaluation Unit (MEU) presented the Together Trust with a cheque for £2,688.28 recently, raised by the MEU during its two year charity partnership with the Together Trust, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year. 

MEU, which is based on the Wythenshawe Hospital site in south Manchester, is one of the UK’s leading contract research organisations, possessing extensive pharmaceutical, scientific and clinical expertise.

The Mayor of Trafford Visits Bridge College in Manchester

Bridge College, a specialist further education college in Openshaw in Manchester, welcomed the Mayor of Trafford, Councillor Rob Chilton, for a visit this week.

The visit was hosted by the Principal Lisa Duncalf and the Mayor was given a tour of the college, which meets the needs of students up to the age of 25 years with learning difficulties and disabilities, complex health needs, communication disorders and autism.
