Impact of cost of living on disabled households – Autumn Statement letter

15 November 2023 - 12:00pm

Today, the Together Trust, in partnership with Voluntary Organisations Disability Group (VODG) and 74 other national and regional disability charities, have written a joint letter to the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Jeremy Hunt MP.

The letter urgently calls for action in the Autumn Statement to address the ongoing cost of living crisis affecting disabled households across the UK.

As winter approaches, disabled people are grappling with low incomes and soaring expenses for heating, food, transport, and essential items, pushing many to the brink.

Response to University of London research on care leavers and premature deaths

26 May 2020 - 10:45am

The findings of the University College London research is heartbreaking but is not surprising. Care experienced people deserve the best possible life chances, but they tell us they continue to feel stigmatised and alienated from society.

We know from our own findings that mental health is one of the biggest worries for care experienced people and that the impact of the care system on their wellbeing extends beyond the age of 25.

England and Wales urged to prioritise mental health support for care experienced people

3 December 2019 - 2:00pm

Did you know that children in care are four times more likely to experience mental health issues than their peers?

As the leading disability charity in the North West, the Together Trust is passionate for providing support, care and a hopeful future to people with health needs and learning disabilities. We are also proud to support external projects, addressing a positive approach to individuals suffering from mental health issues and lacking the necessary aftercare support.

A call for the government to put children at the heart of their spending

29 November 2019 - 2:00pm

We are joining 140+ organisations in a call to all political parties to put children and young people at the heart of this general election.

There are almost 14 million children in the UK but their voices are missing from the national conversation and far too little attention has been paid to their needs, particularly those of the most vulnerable. Instead, the debate on Brexit means the issues affecting children are being crowded out of the national debate.

Fundamental change needs to happen

2 May 2019 - 2:30pm

Yesterday the committee for housing, communities and local government published its report on the funding of local authorities children's social care. We were pleased to see the cross-party recommendations and acknowledgement that there must be more investment in children’s services.

The report reflects the harsh reality that local authorities face delivering children’s social care today. We support the report recommendations, which includes the investment of up to £3.1 billion into children's social care along with systematic change.
