Work in one of our Caring EBD Homes

Everyone deserves a place to call home - whether that's a place to call your own or somewhere to get safety, stability and support. We work with children, young people and adults to build a happy future.

We're looking for experienced residential social care workers to support the leadership of our children's residential homes across Greater Manchester. You'll be joining our children and families team, we are driven by our values and desire to see meaningful change. The people we support really are at the heart of everything we do and we're proud to be positive role models for them.

Taking on a new role in the middle of a pandemic can seem daunting but you'll be joining an incredible team of like-minded peers.

Together we'll work hard, laugh a lot but most importantly we'll support each other. Take a look at our current vaccancies below:

Senior Residential Social Care Worker Vaccancy - Heaton Moor

Giving our best to the children we support

We work in partnership with the people we support, key professionals, families and schools to provide consistency and support in ways that are in the best interest of the young person. Decisions about the day-to-day arrangements for each young person are made in accordance with the young person’s relevant plans allowing the people we support to have freedom and choice. We provide support for young people with a range of needs including:

  • Physical disabilities
  • Emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • Learning disabilities
  • Complex health needs
  • Autistic spectrum conditions

Across Greater Manchester

The Together Trust provide support in our children's residential homes across Greater Manchester. Each home has been thoughtfully adapted and designed to promote independence and develop life skills, you can find our homes in:

  • Stockport
  • Cheadle Hulme
  • Davenport
  • Heaton Moor
your history - we're here when you're ready.

Emotional and behavioural disorders

A number of our residential homes and short break services provide support to children/young people with emotional and behavioural disorders.

In our homes we provide a safe and therapeutic living environment, providing intensive support for children/young people offering higher staffing levels with one to one care. Our support enables children/young people, through intensive one to one time and a nurturing approach, to develop the life skills required to live within a family or small group environment and to navigate the steps towards living more independently.

Clinical Psychology Service

The Together Trust’s Clinical Psychology LAC Service supports these homes and has a highly specialist Clinical Psychologist who will support the needs of the young people, if required. The Clinical Psychologist provides ongoing consultation, support and supervision to staff and can draw on a range of other specialist services within the Together Trust as required.

The staff team at Ventnor and Norvent work closely with the LAC Clinical Psychologist. This enables the staff to respond quickly when there has been a deterioration in presentation, emotional wellbeing or mental health of the child/young person.

The specialist LAC Clinical Psychologist attends the home regularly to offer training and support to the staff team.

What outcomes do we want to achieve for the people we support?

  • Develop a sense of pride, self-confidence and esteem whilst recognising achievement and success
  • Develop, maintain and experience positive and appropriate relationships with staff, adults and other children/young people
  • Build upon their independent living and social skills
  • Show a greater understanding and ownership for their own behaviour and develop an increased awareness of how their actions affect others and the impact their behaviour has on other people’s lives
  • Receive positive care and experiences
  • Encouraging and supporting children/young people to access community activities/hobbies when this is appropriate and safe to do
  • Address issues of denial and avoidance based behaviour
  • Develop and awareness of empathetic understanding and acceptance of responsibility
  • Manage anger
  • Emotional literacy
  • Health and wellbeing.

Ben's Story

Ben has cerebral palsy and autism and for several years has been supported by Woodlands, a centre for young people with complex needs. When lockdown came, it was suggested that he should move into Woodlands full time. Mum Caroline works for the health service and Ben staying at home would have meant their normal support system would have been stretched.
