Young People and Adults’ Achievement Awards 2020
Young People and Adults’ Achievement Awards is one of the Together Trust's greatest annual events when we all get together to celebrate and recognise the incredible achievements of the people we support. Unfortunately, this year’s event couldn’t go ahead at Manchester City FC as planned due to the pandemic but our services still managed to celebrate and acknowledge the resilience of the people we support at this extraordinary time. Congratulations to everyone who received an award and please enjoy the following snapshot of some of the winners.
To start the day and remind everyone what kind of day the 16 July was for us, we couldn’t miss sharing our Chief Executive, Mark Lee’s message, wishing all young people and adults a fantastic day and lots of fun!
We started the day sharing the story of Ethan. Ethan is a student at Inscape House School who has completed the Arts Gold Award and appeared on TV twice (Now TV and BBC North West), representing the Trust. Ethan has also been writing a novel and starred in Lights Cameron Action which is a radio show every Friday on ALLFM 96.9. We're rightly proud of Ethan and his success, and we look forward to seeing his first book in print very soon.
The second inspirational story we shared was about Jacob. Jacob not only worked very hard at the Tannery, producing bird boxes, and dolls houses but also worked for the Together Trust as part of the Fundraising team, selling items on eBay. Recently he initiated and completed his own project, aiming to improve the transport accessibility at his school. His mission was to make the school vehicles accessible to all staff members, campaigning for automatic cars to be added to the school fleet. Jacob's project has made a huge difference and his contribution to the Fundraising team has been of massive help.
We continued with the story of another young person, who some of you might've already seen on TV! Ben's a wonderful young person with a lot of strength, will and potential. During the lockdown, Ben was moved permanently to one of our residential homes. This was the first time he was away from his family. However, despite the length of time, he was away, he coped with the whole situation extremely well and staff members, looking after him, believe he's progressed significantly. We're so proud of Ben and say a big well done to him, and of course, his amazing and supportive family!
To mark this year's Achievement Awards, Crosskeys decided to hold a prom night to celebrate the achievements of the young people and staff. Our thoughtful young people at Crosskeys decided to surprise support workers with personalised medals to recognise staff's brilliant work and support throughout the years. Well done, Crosskeys!
Matt is another one of our amazing students, and even though he's still very young, he has developed a wide range of employability skills! His well-deserved award is due to the great contribution he has made to the team at Thornhill Landscape Gardening. The job meant travelling to Carrington every Friday to do dog grooming and Doggy Daycare! We're so proud of how much Matt has progressed since joining Inscape.
The next incredible story is Osei's. He's a great example of how talent doesn't win, but hard work and determination do. Osei's been awarded a certificate for demonstrating excellent employability skills during work experience and on a catering course at Salford College! A well-deserved award for Osei's incredible efforts and hard work. We're excited to see what the future has in store for him!
Finally to end this year’s coverage of our Achievement Awards we would like to share with you a couple of lovely messages from our friends at Manchester City who were sorry that we couldn't be with them this year. Our heartfelt thanks to Pete Bradshaw and Alex Williams for taking the time to send their message to everyone at the Trust. You can see their video messages by clicking on their names above.
Last but not least, we’d like to say a big, big THANK YOU to all our phenomenal colleagues for their fantastic efforts, time, support and commitment to the people we support.
