Exciting news! Natspec’s Student Voice Parliament at Bridge College!
For the second time this year, Bridge College proudly hosts the North of England’s Natspec members for the dynamic Student Voice Parliament. This is an incredible chance to unite, discuss, and collaborate on vital topics, ensuring that the voices of young people resonate loud and clear.
Natspec, the leading membership association for organisations offering specialised further education for students aged 16 to 25 with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, is committed to providing high-quality, personalised education that empowers every young person to achieve their dreams.
The Student Voice Parliament is an exciting platform where learners passionately express their opinions on issues that matter most to them. With an agenda crafted by the Parliament members themselves, each session is uniquely chaired and hosted by students from various colleges.
Andrew, the Learner Voice Coordinator, shares:
“This is the highlight of my job! Watching students gain confidence and express themselves is truly inspiring. Well done to everyone involved!”
The students’ engagement and dedication are truly remarkable.
Attendees are eager to hear from peers across the county, learn about local campaigns and share insights that drive positive change.
“We are incredibly proud of our students for their eloquence and creativity in presenting ideas to the entire Natspec membership. They helped host an outstanding event, and we’re already excited for next year!”
– Zena, Bridge College Curriculum Lead
The Student Voice Parliament typically discusses topics that are important to learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
These can include:
- Accessibility and inclusivity in education
- Support services and resources for students with disabilities
- Strategies for improving student engagement and participation
- Mental health and well-being
- Career opportunities and vocational training
- Policies affecting students with SEND
Learner-led research
Over the last two years members of the Parliament have undertaken their own learner-led research with their peers on what learners want from the staff working with them.
