The Deputy Lord Mayor of Salford warmly welcomed by the Together Trust

Last month, the Deputy Ceremonial Mayor of Salford, Councillor Gina Reynolds, received a warm welcome from one of the Together Trust's residential services - Haines House, to meet the home’s team and learn more about our work.

Earlier this year, we were delighted to have Councillor Gina Reynolds at our annual Achievement Awards event at the Etihad Stadium, which sparked her interest in our charity.

At Haines House, the Deputy Lord Mayor was given a tour around the home, including the residents’ personalised rooms and the newly refurbished sensory room. Kevin Clarke, Residential Manager at the home, shared: “It was nice for us to show the Lord Mayor what we do first-hand rather than sharing reports and to have genuine interest shown in what we do.”

Councillor Gina Reynolds spoke with the staff team about the young people, their interests, hobbies and activities they did over the summer break and shared that she found the home “lovely” and better than she had expected. Kevin added:

“The Lord Mayor showed particular interest in the methods and strategies we use to support the children and young people with their communication. It was interesting for us to discuss this with someone who has little awareness of this, and it reaffirmed for me the outstanding work that the staff here at Haines House do with our young people. And of course, no visit to Haines House would be complete without a special cake made by Lisa! The Lord Mayor said she would like to visit again sometime. I think the cake helped with that."

The Haines House team were pleased to meet the Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Gina Reynolds and look forward to having her again in the future.
