Students from Inscape House School and Inscape Vocational College have been working with the amazing team at the Village Hotel Club in Cheadle in a brand new work experience programme!

Students got an insight into the world of hospitality from the team at the Village Hotels and worked in departments like the Starbucks cafe, leisure, housekeeping and maintenance.

The work experience started in February, when students were invited for an initial look at the scheme and offered interviews to practice their employability skills.

They were then assigned roles based on their interests and suitability. Over the academic year Adi, Rafe and Amber from Inscape House School, and Oliver and Harvey from Inscape Vocational College have been coming to the hotel to work alongside the staff members.

Graduation

After a term of hard work, it was time for an equally impressive graduation ceremony.

Staff from the Village Hotel prepared a whole celebration event room for us: they rolled out the red carpet, and decorated with balloons, confetti, banners, mini duck figurines with graduation hats on, prepared delicious pastries and the students’ favourite drinks: Starbucks!

The students brought flowers for their mentors, and the staff at the Village Hotel Cheadle prepared certificates, goody bags and an emotional presentation for the students.

Katie and Pat from the Cleaning Team shared “It has been a pleasure working with Rafe and Amber. We have had some really funny times together. Not only have they learned stuff from us, we have also learned a lot from them too.”

Huge congratulations to the students and a big thank you to the Village Hotels for being such amazing partners in this project!
