Community support for children and families
We support children, young people and their families to enjoy their local communities, making sure everyone has a chance to thrive.
Our teams specialise in working with young people with complex health needs, autism and learning disabilities.

Saturday Club

In Stockport, we deliver a Saturday Club for children aged 5 and above with complex health requirements where we provide fun activities to enjoy.
Hosted at the Newbridge Centre in Stockport, the weekly club offers young people aged 5-17 with complex needs a space outside of school to come and take part in activities they choose. It also provides weekend respite; a service often otherwise not available for families.
What can children expect?
We have a lot of different activities depending on what is right for each child’s needs and interests.
Activities range from sensory activities, baking, tie-dye, trips to go shopping or to the farm. We let the young people decide to help build their independence and develop their skills.
As well as having fun, children get the opportunity to build lasting friendships. Morning, afternoon and all-day slots are available.
“Some parents are apprehensive when their child first comes, but as soon as they see that we are somewhere safe and that their children are happy, they love it!
It also gives them a chance to spend time and do activities with their other children in a way that may not have been possible otherwise, so it is a really positive club for the young people and their families.”
– Debbie, Saturday Club staff member
Lyndene

Lyndene is our home-from-home environment based in Wythenshawe, Manchester.
We work with young people with learning difficulties and autism and their families to develop systems and strategies aimed at keeping families together.
Whilst many services support young people with autism and learning difficulties once a family breakdown has happened, Lyndene is all about early intervention. We support families before this point to strengthen bonds, keeping families together in their home and give everyone a chance to thrive.
Established through a collaborative effort involving Manchester City Council’s social care team and NHS England, the service works in partnership with schools and multidisciplinary teams to facilitate improvements in school attendance and access to the education system for children.
What can families expect?
Young people have the opportunity to come to Lyndene for planned short sessions or visits – either by themselves, or with family members.
Lyndene creates a safe space where our expert team can help the young people we support to develop new skills, to take carefully planned risks, and to develop their current interests further.
Young people get to participate in engaging activities tailored for them – ranging from scavenger hunts and quizzes about countries from around the world to learning how to make brownies and pizza.
“I just want to extend my thanks for all the support you are providing us, especially regarding school.”
