Adult social care touches all our lives, whether through our own experiences or those of family, friends and colleagues. Yet for too long, discussions about its future have been overshadowed by delayed reform.
The launch of The Big Conversation on Care, led by Baroness Louise Casey as part of the Independent Commission on Adult Social Care, provides an important opportunity for people across England to share their views, experiences and priorities for the future of care.
It starts with you
At Together Trust, we support disabled people, people with learning disabilities, neurodivergence, mental health needs across Greater Manchester. Every day, we see the difference that high-quality, person-centred care can make.
We also see the challenges facing the sector. Many people struggle to access the right support at the right time. Families can find the system difficult to navigate, while providers face workforce pressures and local authorities continue to operate under significant financial constraints.
Behind these challenges are real people: adults seeking greater independence, families looking for reassurance, and care professionals working tirelessly to deliver support. These experiences should be at the heart of any discussion about reform.
Listening to lived experience
Meaningful reform depends on hearing from people with lived experience, families, unpaid carers, care workers and organisations across the sector.
