The Together Trust, one of the leading disability rights charities in the North-West, brings back the inclusion message at Manchester Pride Parade 2022. A delegation of staff and volunteers took the streets equipped with colourful flags, flower garlands, fans, stickers and messages of peace to support disability and autism inclusion in the LGBTQ+ community.
Our messages covered a broad range of topics however on the day our team were surprised that the simple “Autism Awareness” and “Disability Awareness” banners attracted the most attention. Especially from supporters who came up to express how pleased they were to see the Together Trust advocating equality and diversity across all equality groups, not only the LGBT+ community. Stéphane Maitrejean, Senior Teacher at Inscape House School, shared:
It was truly heart-warming to see the response from the crowd. We had so many young people cheering for us.”
The Together Trust is strongly committed to campaigning for LGBT+ rights and our charity is proud to have played a part in helping to celebrate and promote equality, inclusivity and diversity in this year’s Manchester Pride Parade, along with thousands of other communities and organisations across the globe.
“Moments like this remind you how important our work is. Raising awareness about disability and neurodivergence doesn’t only create more inclusive communities, but it makes people feel seen and represented. And we know how crucial that is for young people.”
