Bridge College students get celebrated in work experience gala

The Careers Team at Bridge College have thrown our students a wonderful surprise: a red carpet awards show just for them.

In a lively celebration, students that take part in work experience programmes got to be celebrated and awarded with certificates and trophies, acknowledging their fantastic efforts over the last year. They were joined by their loved ones and staff members from across the College.

Work experience is a key part of our curriculum at Bridge College. Our disabled students are supported to access the world of work through a variety of placements: from internal ones in our Cafe, to external ones in theatres, leisure centres or charity shops.

Lisa, Careers Coordinator says “We are incredibly proud of every student who has embraced these opportunities. Whether working internally with our teams or externally with supportive employers, each of you has demonstrated commitment, resilience, and a willingness to try something new. These experiences are more than just placements; they are stepping stones toward independence and future success.”

The event highlighted that work experience is an important part of our students development, as they step into the world of work through a range of opportunities, both within our organisation and beyond.

Lisa, continues “For many of our students, taking on a work placement is not just about gaining experience, it’s about building confidence, discovering strengths, and showing the world what they are capable of.”

Lisa also explains that this achievement is shared between teams: from our amazing support staff at Bridge College, our dedicated team of Job Coaches, tutors and employer partners. We have been very lucky and grateful to have longstanding partnerships with multiple businesses and organisations across Greater Manchester like Age UK, National Cycling Centre or the African Caribbean Care Group.

Lisa ended her speech with a direct message to the students “Your achievements, no matter how big or small they may seem, are significant. You are proving that with the right support and opportunities, everyone can thrive in the workplace. Together, we can ensure that every young person has the chance to succeed and be valued for who they are.“

During the event, we watched a video celebrating work experience, handed out awards, had a tasty buffet lunch, and took photos on the red carpet!
