Bridge College celebrates the end of the term in style

Two kayaks on the edge of the water full of students and staff wearing red life jackets, smiling and waving at the camera
31 July 2023

Students have enjoyed the end-of-year celebration events, including the college's sports day, Bridge Fest, the Together Trust Achievement Awards at the Etihad Stadium, and the leavers' ceremony. We would like to wish students who are leaving college this summer the very best for their future.

Here are just a few of the exciting activities the students have participated in to celebrate their hard work and perseverance this academic year.

Debdale Water Park

As an end-of-term treat, some Bridge students had a fabulous time visiting Debdale water park. They had the opportunity to take to the water and experience the kayaks. Everyone participated and had a great time. Some were even brave enough to run and jump into the water from the jetty.

Sports Day 2023

Sports Day started with an amazing opening ceremony and a mass warm-up session. Students teamed up and took the opportunity to dress up. Each team, The Dinosaurs, Tigers, Elephants, Hippos and Red Pandas, looked absolutely amazing in their outfits. The Elephants were deserving winners of the best outfits in the award ceremony. This was due to their sensory additions to the outfits, including a trunk that actually sprayed water!

Everyone was so enthusiastic to start the sporting activities, these included the shot put, javelin, football, rowing, and basketball.  Students had a great time trying each activity while cheering and supporting each other to do their best. After lunch, the races took place. It was amazing to see students proud to take part in their race and their peers cheering them on. In the final race, the staff took to the start line, much to the student’s delight! A huge congratulations to the Dinosaur team, who won overall. It meant a lot for the students to win certificates. Student Millie said,

“It was an amazing day.”

Bridge Fest

Bridge College celebrates its 30th Birthday!

This meant Bridge Fest was extra special this year.

It was brilliant to see everyone dress for the occasion and get stuck into all the amazing activities. These included Face painting, glitter and tattoos, sensory games, tombola, zumba, a sensory space, outstanding singing and dancing, and much more. The rain didn’t even put anyone off from taking part in the football and target practice. The biggest success of the day with the students was Jeremy Swinn (Principal) in the stocks. Everyone absolutely loved throwing their wet sponges at him. The day finished with everyone singing happy birthday and lots of cake.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success.

End-of-term disco

What a wonderful way to end the college year.

Our 2023 leavers celebrated in style with staff and family. We’re so proud of each and every one of you. You have worked so hard, and we know you’re going to thrive in this next chapter. It was great to see everyone at the disco, dancing and celebrating each other’s achievements. At the end of the day, the red carpet was rolled out. The whole college cheered as students left the building for the last time. For those returning in September, we wish you a well-deserved break and are looking forward to seeing you again. We also look forward to welcoming new students into college.
