Together Trust’s Music and Performing Arts Festival returns at the Lowry Theatre

Two boys are sat on plastic chairs on the stage ready to perform on drums.

On 15 June, children and adults from 12 specialist schools and colleges around Greater Manchester gathered for a collaborative arts showcase at the Lowry Theatre Lyrical Stage.

Every year, Together Trust charity organise this event to highlight the creative talents of disabled and autistic people and give them the opportunity to shine in an iconic location. We celebrate alongside other schools and put the spotlight on our students’ passion for contemporary music, dance, and performance.

Our students performed some well-loved numbers and some creative pieces.

Students from Bridge College brought the magical world of the Wizard of Oz to the stage and performed multiple scenes from the famous play, including songs like ‘Follow the yellow brick road’, ‘ If Only I had a brain’, ‘Somewhere over the rainbow’.

Students from Inscape House School performed a mix of story telling of ‘Once Upon a Rhythm’ and music with the song ‘Play the Samba’.

Students at Inscape Vocational College prepared a montage of work from throughout the academic year including dancing duets, dancing solos and songs.

We were excited to welcome the Mayor of Stockport Councillor Mark Hunter and the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford Councillor Robin Garrido, who both enthusiastically watched the young people perform to their favourite songs.

The Together Trust charity’s children and young people from Inscape Vocational College, Bridge College, and Inscape House School shared the stage with their peers from Ansar Projects School, Elms Bank School, Piper Hill High School, Green Fold Special School, Newlands School, Rowan Tree Primary School, Springwood School, Pictor Academy and Cromwell Primary School.

We are incredibly proud of everyone’s performance on the day – you’ve all conquered your fears and stood in front of a packed theatre hall cheering you on and gave it your all.
