Together Trust welcomes Mel Dunn as new Chief Executive
We're delighted to announce that we have appointed Melanie Dunn as our new Chief Executive!
Our charity, which has almost 50 services across the North West, delivering individual care, support and education to thousands of people and their families each year, has been led by Mark Lee for over a decade. He announced his retirement earlier this year for the end of December 2024.
“After 11 wonderful years working at the Together Trust and having the privilege to meet some many wonderful people, I am delighted to pass on that pleasure to our new Chief Executive, Melanie Dunn,” shares retiring Chief Executive Mark Lee.
During his time at Together Trust, Mark Lee has led the Trust through nationally difficult times and strived for growth when the people the charity supports required more diverse and specialist services, including the development of the charity’s campaigning arm to advocate against the daily discrimination, hardship and barriers that people in the community face.
“I know that she shares the values and enthusiasm, for the organisation and sector, as I do, and will continue to grow the health of the Trust. We are thrilled to have Mel as our new Chief Executive.”
“I am delighted to join the Together Trust,” says new Chief Executive Melanie Dunn. “The Trust has a rich history, a wonderful inclusive culture and a strong reputation as a leading charity across the Northwest.”
Mel has more than 30 years of experience working in the health, care, charity and housing sector, with 16 years at a managerial or executive level.
A qualified social worker registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, Mel is a passionate advocate for social justice with experience in delivering and commissioning services, and in championing the rights and needs of children, young people and adults who we support, from diverse backgrounds who have faced disadvantage and trauma in life.
“I had the pleasure of meeting students, beneficiaries and staff at a recent Trust Day and instantly felt at home, everyone was so welcoming and the impact that the Trust has on people’s lives was clear to see,” Mel shares. “It will be a privilege to lead the Trust, working alongside Trustees and the leadership team, building on its current success and excellent standing within the community.”
Giles Gaddum, Chair of the Board of Trustees, adds: “Mel's heart and passion for our work shone through and her understanding of the challenges of the role were evident from the start.
“Her lifetime of support and service to those in need of an advocate was clear and I know that she will be a great leader for the Trust.”
Mel Dunn will start her role in January 2025 following Mark Lee’s retirement at the end of this year, with both working closely together to ensure a smooth transition.
