Jude, a lower school student at Inscape House School, our specialist school supporting autistic children, recently had the opportunity to participate in Manchester United’s Christmas campaign, an experience that provided him with a once-in-a-lifetime introduction to professional football.
In October, Jude was invited to the club to take part in the filming of a Christmas television advert. During the day, he met members of the men’s first team, including goalkeeper Tom Heaton, and participated in filming alongside them. As part of the experience, Jude was presented with a full Manchester United kit and received a special gift from team captain Bruno Fernandes – a pair of football boots.
In a further surprise, Jude was informed by Tom Heaton that he would serve as a matchday mascot at Old Trafford for the Boxing Day fixture between Manchester United and Newcastle United. On the day of the match, Jude joined ten other mascots for the pre-match warmup, meeting the players and receiving autographs as the team prepared for kick-off. He then walked out onto the pitch with goalkeeper Senne Lammens, proudly wearing his new kit and boots.

“Jude was an outstanding representative of Inscape House School,” said Emily Read, MUFC SEND Officer at Inscape House School.
“As a specialist school supporting autistic children, we place great value on providing experiences that build confidence and engagement. Jude demonstrated politeness, enthusiasm, and maturity throughout the day, making the most of this extraordinary opportunity.”
This experience provided Jude not only with the chance to meet his football heroes but also to engage with a professional sporting environment in a memorable and inspiring way. Well done, Jude!
