This month, Inscape House and Bridge College students took part in our third annual STEAM fair.

What makes STEAM (Science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) so important?

It affects everything in our day-to-day lives: from the clothes we wear to the food we eat, and is integral for careers in transport, keeping the environment clean and safe, energy, transport, apps and games, working with animals, robotics, and even space travel.

This year’s bumper fair included visits from Atkins (who taught our students about Robotics, Introduction to Engineering, Coding, and Maths and Estimation), Paws4ConservationDunham MasseyTarmac, and the Counsellor Midwife.

Our fabulous staff also organised workshops for maths, gardening, music, and diversity in the workplace.

“I’d like a job where I can work outside”

– James, student

“Maths lays a foundation for life-long learning. It’s all about structure and problem-solving: and that’s useful for everything!”

– Manny, Maths teacher

“We need to get more autistic and neurodiverse women into midwifery. Expecting mothers with autism often want a nurse who is neurodivergent too and can understand their experience.”

– Samantha, The Counsellor Midwife

“I’d like to work with animals. My favourite animal is my dog at home”

– Anna*, student
