Welcome to Inscape House
At Inscape House School, no two learning programmes are the same, because no two learners are the same.
We take a creative and personalised approach so that every student can learn at their level, in a way that suits their needs.

What to expect
Our teaching methods
We approach teaching in a flexible way to meet the needs of our learners. All our staff have a strong pedological understanding of how to support the learnings of our students. Our class sizes are purposefully small – never more than eight students.
Positive behavioural support
Our approach is positive and proactive, never punitive. We view all behaviour as a form of communication. We actively teach students strategies to get their needs met and support them in their regulation.
Person-centred curriculum
We shape learning programmes to the student while offering a broad range of subjects from the national curriculum. At Inscape, it’s not just about academic achievement. We also teach communication, social and life skills.

Creative ways to support learning
We understand that our students might have barriers to learning. All our staff have a deep and thorough understanding of our students needs and are skilled in adapting their approach to find ways to engage, from reading and numeracy skills to outdoor learning, climbing and animal assisted intervention.
Increasing independence and participation
At Inscape, young people have a voice in their learning. We actively support all forms of communication and encourage students to contribute to their annual progress review. We also have a democratically elected school council that is involved in the day-to-day running of the school.
Positive mental health and wellbeing
We take a whole-school approach to supporting positive mental health and wellbeing for our students. We have three qualified counsellors / play therapists in our team, mental health first aiders on-site, and access to onsite therapeutic support. Staff have an awareness of trauma-informed practice, emotion coaching and relational practice.

Partnership with parents
When we work together, we change lives. We work closely with students and their families and we host regular parent partnership events.
Support for learning
We have a three tiered model of support for both education and therapy. It’s common for students to move between tiers depending on need.
Our facilities
We have a large campus in the heart of leafy Cheadle. From sensory rooms to soft play, from beautiful outdoor learning spaces to an animal assisted intervention hub, we’ve got everything covered for our students. Students can develop their work and independence skills in our fully equipped kitchen and onsite café. Digital-savvy students can put their skills to the test in our computing suite and put their creative flair to the test with our Inscapism podcast.
The best way to see what we have to offer is to pay us a visit. Contact us to arrange a tour.
