Welcome to Inscape House
At Inscape House School, no two learning programmes are the same, because no two learners are the same.
We take a creative and personalised approach so that every student can learn at their level, in a way that suits their needs.

Who we are
Our mission
To champion the rights, needs and ambitions of our students – they are at the heart of everything we do. We stand by them and we work together for change.
Our vision
A learning environment that places our young people at the heart of everything we do, where they feel valued and can thrive.
Our approach
We support young people to conquer barriers and surpass expectations, by understanding that they have a distinct way of thinking and perceiving the world.
We provide opportunities to promote independence and teach life-changing skills. We engage, we support, and we motivate to equip our unique young people to face life’s challenges.
From the curriculum to classroom design, we think about every detail to help our learners thrive. We know that small adjustments make a big difference.

What to expect
Our teaching methods
We approach teaching in a flexible way to meet the needs of our learners. For instance, students might have personal timetables and one-to-one tuition, balanced with group work and activities. Our class sizes are purposefully small – never more than eight students. And each group has a teacher and educational assistants who work with the students every day.
Positive behavioural support
Our approach is positive and proactive, never punitive. We support students in understanding their emotions and help them learn coping strategies to handle all kinds of situations.
Person-centred curriculum
We shape learning programmes to the student while offering a broad range of subjects from the national curriculum. But it’s not just about academic achievement. We also teach communication, social and life skills.

Creative ways to support learning
We get to know our students and the things they’re interested in. Those special interests can be a great way to help students with their progress. We’ve found all kinds of ways to engage our students, from gardening and horticulture to climbing and animal assisted intervention.
Increasing independence and participation
At Inscape, young people have a voice in their learning. They can set their targets, contribute to their annual progress review, and take part in our school council.
Positive mental health and wellbeing
We take a whole-school approach to managing positive mental health and wellbeing for our students. We have three qualified counsellors in our team, mental health first aiders on-site, and access to the broader Together Trust family of therapeutic support. Find out more about therapy support at Inscape.
Partnership with parents
When we work together, we change lives. We work students and their families to develop strategies for all aspects of their lives and host regular parent partnership events.
Support for learning
All our students receive a universal level of support for education. But additional support is there when they need it as part of our three-tier support model. It’s common for students to move between tiers depending on what’s happening in their lives.
Our facilities
Students love our campus. We’ve got everything covered with sensory rooms, an adventure playground, outdoor gym equipment and a sensory playground. Our green-fingered students can develop their horticulture skills in our gardens, while students can develop their work and independence skills in our fully equipped kitchen and onsite café. And, computer-savvy students can put their skills to the test in our ICT suite.
The best way to see what we have to offer is to pay us a visit. Contact us to arrange a tour.
