Since the Library moved to a new, bigger, and cosier location, the students have been very enthusiastic about visiting and taking part in events.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most exciting developments is the launch of the library&#8217;s new&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/inscapehouseschoollibrary\/?show_story_unavailable=1\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Instagram account<\/a>, which has become a hub for the school\u2019s reading community where Jenna shares updates about school events, competitions and reading inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-columns is-layout-flex wp-container-core-columns-is-layout-28f84493 wp-block-columns-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.togethertrust.org.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/library%202.jpg\" alt=\"A wide view of the library that has 2 big armchairs, a colorful rug, cute cushions, and walls full of books. \" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.togethertrust.org.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/library%205.jpg\" alt=\"An up-close look at some books on a shelf. Two visible titles are a children's book about Maya Angelou and Cat in the Hat. \" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the social media presence, the library has been hosting a diverse mix of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jenna knows that the best way to engage with students is through events, so the library never misses an occasion to celebrate reading: whether that\u2019s through the National Share a Story Month, the Valentines\u2019 Day \u2018Blind Date With a Book\u2019 initiative, making and sharing bookmarks with our partnership school in Ghana for \u2019International Libraries Month\u2019,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.togethertrust.org.uk\/news\/claymation-painted-potatoes-and-fun-costumes-how-students-celebrate-arrival-spring\">dressing up for World Book day<\/a>, or hosting writers\u2019 talks. The fabulous Portico library in Manchester have hosted various writers&#8217; workshops both at our school as well as their library, and our students are frequent winners of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.togethertrust.org.uk\/news\/inscape-house-school-students-shine-portico-art-book-award\">Portico Art of the Book Award<\/a>. In addition, to celebrate National Storytelling Week, the students were enchanted by the magical story Alice and the Windowsill Garden, which was performed in the library by Colour the Clouds theatre company.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.togethertrust.org.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/inline_image_full_width\/public\/Library%20Events.png?itok=xmviI5U7\" alt=\"A collage of 3 images: first is an image of wrapped books that have a cryptic clue about them written on the wrapping such as &quot;for upper school, a mysery novel&quot;. Third image is a group of children dressed in World Book Day costumes posing next to Bluey. \" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Inkscape Critics<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Starting during the spring term, students have been participating in our Carnegie Shadowing group Inkscape Critics. This has proved a powerful project that has encouraged the students to explore books on a deeper level and broaden their breadth of literature. Whilst previously there was little demand attached to library Story Sessions, our students have been excited and eager to join in with the creative task accompanying each book on the Carnegie Shortlist for Illustration. At the end of the year students took part in Inkscape Critics Carnegie Celebration \u2013 with a spread of foods from around the world, activities and the reveal of the winner of Carnegie Medal for Illustration. &nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.togethertrust.org.uk\/sites\/default\/files\/styles\/inline_image_full_width\/public\/Carnegie%20celebration.png?itok=fUmVAGMw\" alt=\"A collage of 3 images. We have enjoyed a plethora of literary events throughout the school year, celebrating our love for literature and reading amongst our school community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The library is frequented by a constant stream of students who are ready to absorb themselves in the stories of their sessions and choose a new book to read at home; meet their friends or make new ones whilst enjoying library clubs over lunch; help with the library tasks to maintain our wonderful space; or create their own stories during writing workshops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has been a real pleasure to watch the students embrace the library and all it has to offer. We have another exciting line-up of library events for the upcoming academic year, consisting of many opportunities for our students to carry on growing their love for learning through literacy!<\/p>\n<cite>&#8211; Jenna, Librarian<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Library Assistants<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Jenna is helped by the amazing Library Assistants, who dedicate their time and energy to help with the management of the library and events. Earlier this year, Faye, one of our students, was a finalist for the Pupil Library Assistant of the Year Awards and took part in a celebration in London! &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Jenna shares: &#8220;Faye\u2019s enthusiasm for our school library is infectious. Her passion and drive radiate throughout the school, motivating her peers and inspiring the school community as a whole; her impact is significant.
