Our very own INscapism magazine has been honoured with the \u2018Highly Commended Comic\u2019 award, and our inspiring teacher, Judit Tolnai, has been recognised with the \u2018Most Inspiring Teacher\u2019 award for her incredible work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shine School Media Awards is a renowned national competition that celebrates the diverse talents of secondary school students across the UK. These young talents excel in writing, editing, designing, and fundraising for school newspapers, magazines, and multimedia projects like podcasts and digital publications. The competition aims to give students a taste of what a career in the media industry might look and feel like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The journey of the students at Inscape House School to achieve these accolades has been nothing short of exhilarating. It all began with a one-week Digital Advantage workshop, where a group of students conceived the idea of INscapism, an online magazine. With the guidance of Digital Advantage, they brought this vision to life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Determined to make the magazine accessible to everyone, including those without computer access, the students decided to print physical copies. The first edition was printed in November, and the online version followed in January 2024. By March, the second edition was ready and entered into the Shine Awards. This rapid progress is a testament to the students’ hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One standout piece, \u2018Budget Reduction\u2019 by George Beswick, though not entered in the \u2018Best Cartoon\u2019 category, received high praise for its simplicity and humour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stephen Marchant, Learning Officer\/Comic Art Curator at The Cartoon Museum, commended it as a great example of effective and funny communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summer issue of INscapism<\/a> is now available online, and we couldn’t be prouder of our students’ achievements. Judit Tolnai, Senior Education Assistant at Inscape House School, shared her excitement about the awards:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe whole experience was amazing! The day in London at the award ceremony, which took place in Stationers Hall, was quite an event. We did not once feel excluded or that we didn\u2019t belong there. They accommodated our access requests and it was brilliantly organised.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Judit also praised the students’ dedication:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAll the students that have participated in making INscapism have worked so hard on the magazine. They have enjoyed writing articles and have been fantastic. Students have been so dedicated to learning the processes of creating a magazine and worked well in a team, meaning they\u2019ve had to let the team know what they\u2019ve done and even learnt to review their own work. They\u2019ve loved it so much they\u2019ve even worked on it during their breaks!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
