On Wednesday the 6th of November, almost 200 students and staff from Inscape House School <\/a>went on a school trip to Chester Zoo. Many of the students are passionate about animals, so there was a lot of excitement, especially with many younger students from lower school.\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some students and staff travelled in a coach, whereas some travelled in school cars. Students in the coaches did brilliantly to cope with the different sensory challenges, and the atmosphere was very cheerful.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once students arrived at Chester Zoo, many decided to be with their friends, while others stayed with staff. Students saw a wide variety of incredible animals, including elephants, flamingos, penguins, peacocks, red pandas, and many more! \u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u200bOne particularly special sight however was the new snow leopards. Snow leopards are highly vulnerable so to see some in person was a once in a lifetime experience. Seeing them also gave students an important lesson in conservation as staff at the zoo are hoping one day that the leopards will be able to socialise with each other, and this will result in more snow leopards.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students and staff enjoyed lunch at the zoo; some brought packed lunches where others bought food from the food court. As the trip was reaching its end, students decided to look in the gift shop, which was full of interesting and fun products. Some students bought items such as plushies and pencils.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The trip was a wonderful experience, which students and staff really enjoyed, and once again, students proved that autism is no barrier for enjoying things in life. A big thank you to Danielle, our AAI coordinator, who organised this trip.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The recent trip to Chester zoo was very successful, as we saw over 188 staff and students attending, a huge increase from the previous year. We had a mixture of students from across all four pathways that we have at Inscape. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was great they got to encounter animals that they don’t usual get to see. The hands-on experiences of learning facts and knowledge about zoo animals instead in a book in the classroom helped remove barriers they previously faced before our walk on the wild side!!!”<\/p>\n– Danielle, Animal Assisted Intervention practitioner at Inscape House School<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
