This week, we visited Bridge College<\/strong> as part of #ThePowerofSpecialistFE<\/strong><\/a> campaign.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was an inspiring day where students shared their experiences of life at college and what makes FE so important for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students told us that college gives them confidence and independence, helping them believe in themselves and feel ready to achieve. Support from staff and learning that it\u2019s okay to ask for help have been life-changing for many. Work placements are a highlight, offering practical experience and preparing students for future careers.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2018I enjoy going to work placement. It made me happy because I can work independently at the central library.\u2019\u2019 – Rosheen <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2018Everyday coming to college makes me feel confident that I can achieve every day. When I\u2019m confident I\u2019m happy and can get through the day.\u2019\u2019 – Dana<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018\u2018I enjoy going offsite doing things like football and bowling. This has helped me to go out and learn new skills like teamwork and problem solving.\u2019\u2019 – Rosheen <\/em> <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

College also provides a sense of belonging, with opportunities to make friends and feel part of a community. Alongside this, students develop valuable skills, from teamwork and communication to problem-solving, that will benefit them in work and life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we\u2019ve heard from students show why specialist FE settings matter – they provide tailored support, opportunities, and environments where young people can thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are calling on policymakers and decision-makers to acknowledge the vital role of specialist FE, and ensure it remains a cornerstone of an inclusive education system.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
