Bridge College wants a world where\u00a0diversity, equity, and inclusivity\u00a0are celebrated. A world where difference is valued. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Independent Woman’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to learn and foster an environment where together, we can forge women’s equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All Bridge College learners took part in lots of different activities throughout the day, including a zumba class led by Hannah Payton. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chloe, the Sports Coach, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHannah Payton, who was amazing, is the first-ever woman to be a qualified Zumba instructor who has Down syndrome. Not only did she plan and deliver the Zumba routines, but she also created a playlist that included women artists to celebrate International Women\u2019s Day.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Hannah, Zumber Instructor, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI had a great time meeting the students and staff. Zumba is my life. My motto is “never give up”.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the day, students and staff left messages for women they admire on a board in the reception area. It was lovely to read all the kind words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students also had the opportunity to take part in a treasure hunt. Participants had to hunt around the college for pictures of inspirational women. Each picture had a letter on it, the aim being to work out what all the letters spelt. It spelt \u2018girl power.\u2019 All the answer sheets were entered into a prize draw. It was great fun!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elizabeth, Tutor, said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe day was spent celebrating and learning about inspirational women. Learners thoroughly enjoyed the treasure hunt and leaving messages for women they admire. We’re really pleased we had the opportunity to c<\/em>elebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness about discrimination.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
