Our Bridge Gives Back curriculum gives students a fantastic opportunity to benefit the local area. This half term, some learners decided for their Bridge Gives Back sessions, they would like to help and support homeless people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To bring this idea to life, each student did some research about homeless charities and different ways they could support them. After looking at all the research gathered, they decided to raise money through a tuck shop to create care packages. These could then be given to the chosen charity to distribute. The students later decided on Centre Point as their chosen charity. Center Point means a lot to them because they support homeless young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They worked with staff to create a business plan and delivered this along with a sales pitch to Assistant Principal Jonah, which he later agreed to. Since then, the students have run and stocked the Bridge Tuck Shop every Friday afternoon and to date have raised around \u00a3250<\/strong>to create the care packages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This month learners invited a visitor from Center Point to come in and talk to them. They discussed Center Point and why it\u2019s such an important charity. During this visit, the students agreed to meet and deliver the care packages to Center Point in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Different learner groups across the college have been looking at improving the environment and learning about how they can be more environmentally aware. In response to this work, and as part of Bridge Gives Back, students organised and participated in litter-picking drives around the college grounds, Manchester College, and local community parks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Work has also begun collecting and campaigning for a women\u2019s refuge in the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
