Following the unannounced Ofsted inspection Overdale, based in Stockport, has received overwhelming approval on the care and services it provides, with the report stating that it operates at an exceptionally high standard.
The report noted that Overdale was particularly good at planning activities with young people and that staff receive the highest level of training which enables them to deliver the highest level of care.
Tracey Hill, Manager at Overdale, commented; “Everyone at Overdale and the Together Trust is delighted to receive the highest level recommendation by Ofsted. This is the second consecutive ‘Outstanding’ rating which Overdale’s received, clearly demonstrating that the service has a strong commitment to achieving and maintaining an exceptionally high quality of care. The Together Trust takes immense pride and satisfaction in its work so to have this acknowledged by Ofsted is a great achievement.”
One particular area highlighted was the contribution made by parents and the ongoing working relationship with them to help run the home. A parent commented: “Overdale is a prime example of residential care at its best. It’s not about giving up my child or them taking over – it’s about working together as a team to help benefit all parties. A child with severe disabilities requires a team to provide the necessary standard of care and ensure a quality of life. Working together I believe we can achieve this and I think this report proves it.”
Overdale has been specifically designed to help benefit the children and young people who use the service. These young people have complex needs that require a particular level of care, support and education training. Rise and fall worktops and sensory rooms are just a couple examples of some of the adaptations made to the facility to help benefit its users.
