The Together Trust is celebrating after news that it has been shortlisted in two categories in the final of the Laing & Buisson’s 2012 Independent Specialist Care Awards.
Chris Hoyle from Inscape House School is through to the finals in the special education category for her work on the development of the school’s sleep clinic. The clinic works with families to develop programmes at home to improve their quality of life.
The Inscape House School sleep programmes are unique as they are based on autism specific approaches including social stories, the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). The outcomes for pupils and their families have been very positive. To date, over 25 children and families in the school have benefitted from individual sleep programmes.
Our supported tenancy team in Bolton is also nominated for an award in the Specialist Care category for supported living. Operated by the Together Trust’s Community and Domiciliary Services, the team provides home living and community access support to vulnerable adults who have autism.
Services are delivered to individuals who are tenants in their own or a shared home, rather than those who live in a residential care home. Rated ‘excellent’ by the Care Quality Commission, the aim of the service is to enable people to live full and enriched lives within their local community, to experience a broad range of relationships and build support networks.
Commenting on the news David Marriott, Chief Executive said; “Getting through to the Laing & Buisson final is a fantastic achievement for our Special Education and Social Care services and is a testament to the hard work of our staff. We strive to offer the highest standards of support to service users and families.”
