Pupils fly the flag against discrimination

In May pupils at Inscape House School in Cheadle celebrated IDAHO (International Day Against Homophobia).

Greg Loynes, Teacher in charge explains, “When I heard about IDAHO through the Lesbian and Gay Foundation, I thought this would be a great learning opportunity. This term pupils have been learning about different types of bullying and discrimination. They have made anti-bullying posters and completed anti-bullying quizzes on-line. Pupils were intrigued to learn that there is a special flag to raise awareness of the event, designed to help organisations actively and positively show their support of IDAHO. On IDAHO day we looked at how other organisations in the area were marking the event – and noticed the flag was flying at a number of public buildings. We learned that only one school flew the flag last year so we were proud to add our school to this year’s list of organisations that are against homophobia.”
