A number of organisations were on hand to give information and advice, including a range of Together Trust services, the National Autistic Society, the Autistic Society for the Greater Manchester Area, Connexions and Services for Young People, as well as a host of colleges that provide education services for students aged 16 and over. There was also information about services available for adults with ASC, advocacy organisations and details about Person Centred Planning and Individual Budgets too.
The event was organised by Suzie Franklin, Family Liaison and Support Worker at Inscape House School. She explains, “We understand that it can be a daunting time for parents and carers as their teenagers grow older, but there are support services out there that can make a real difference. It was great to see so many organisations involved and from the feedback we received it was a great informal opportunity for families and practitioners to ask questions and gather information to help young people with ASC move on.”
