Training and conferences

The autism spectrum is complex and research about it and about approaches to working with young people within the spectrum is increasing our knowledge and understanding all the time.

Due to this, we run a series of courses each year for parents and professionals. The current programme is available below.

Some courses take place at Inscape Centre and are led by our own staff. These include:

  • ASC: An Insight: an introduction to autism spectrum conditions
  • DARTS: an approach to working with young people with ASC and challenging behaviour
  • TEACCH: an overview of the TEACCH programme
  • The sleep clinic: a specialist support service
  • Course timetable: training in autism 2011.

Course details are available to download below.

These courses can also be delivered to local authorities, schools, and other services in your own settings.

In addition, we have established links with speakers who are nationally and internationally renowned in the field of autism. These include Gary Mesibov and Kathy Hearsey, Dave Hewett, Eileen Arnold, Kathy Kelly and Wendy Lawson. Courses led by these and other speakers are included in our programme.

We also work with Manchester Metropolitan University to deliver accredited courses in autism at postgraduate and undergraduate level.

We want to work with services to provide training that is tailored to your needs. We have undertaken training for Surestart, short break services, Connexions, social services departments, schools, and colleges. We have also worked with professionals from a variety of different backgrounds and disciplines.

If you would like to know more about training that is specifically designed to meet the needs of your organisation, please contact us.
