Support for parents

For many parents, discovering that your child has an autism spectrum condition (ASC) is the start of a challenging and sometimes difficult journey.

At the Inscape Centre we recognise this and provide support for parents in a number of different ways.

First, we are happy to listen to parents and answer any questions that they may have - contact us, phone 0161 283 4761 or visit the Inscape Centre.

We host a parents’ group that meets regularly, run by Living with Autism. This group gives parents the opportunity to discuss issues amongst themselves and is open to everybody.

Some parents want to learn about the autism spectrum in greater depth. We have a library of books, journals and audio-visual materials, which parents are able to look at and borrow. These are regularly updated. There are a bewildering number of books on autism and our experienced staff are able to guide parents to find the ones that are most helpful to them.

As noted in another section of this website, we run a range of courses and workshops on different aspects of the autism spectrum. Parents are very welcome on all of these, and where charges are made, parents are offered a preferential rate.
